Mary Eilerman

Instrument: Percussion

Year I joined SSO: 2008

Why I Joined SSO: Maestro Sheldon Bair put out a call for an extra percussionist that was desperately needed for a concert that was just two weeks away.

Occupation: I am a retired police commander from the Baltimore Police Department. I now bring my talent and experience from Baltimore City to Harford County where I hold the position of Chief of Public Safety at Harford Community College where the SSO rehearses.

Notable Achievements: I also play steel drums for a spin-off group of the SSO, Steel Pandemic, a Harford County steel drum band comprised of eight other SSO musicians. I majored in music education at Towson University with a concentration in percussion and have lived in Harford County for over twenty five years. I am the only police officer in the SSO. I have two adult children who I’m immensely proud of, and who are both musically talented. I enjoy my time playing with such a talented group of musicians and for such a delightful maestro.
