Support Us

You can support the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra in a variety of ways...

As a musician...
As a volunteer...
With advertising...

As a Corporate sponsor: We believe that the study of music has a significant impact on the intellectual grace of a child and that this has a significant impact on whether they will pursue the hard sciences like science and engineering. (In 2001, test takers with experience in music performance scored 57 points higher on the verbal portion and 41 points higher on the math portion of the SAT.) Music and that intellectual hunger do not leave their lives when they become adults. Harford County is on the verge of substantial growth in the field of science and engineering due to pending BRAC changes effecting neighboring Aberdeen Proving Ground. Employers are interested in attracting and keeping employees with these skills, and these employees are looking for a community with an active arts culture.

Most Americans understand that the arts improve our quality of life, but a vibrant arts and culture industry helps local businesses thrive. Arts and culture organizations—businesses in their own right—leverage significant event-related spending that pump vital revenue into local businesses. Communities that support arts and culture are investing in an industry that supports jobs, generates government revenue, is a significant draw to people looking to transfer into the area, and is the cornerstone of tourism. Communities with orchestras attract “super-citizens” – volunteers, voters, philanthropists and other active, civic-minded participants, and the presence of an orchestra is an indicator of a community’s economic development. If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, please contact the Orchestra Manager at 410-838-6465 or by e-mail.

Planned Giving: Traditions of opportunity and excellence should be preserved. The SSO has provided Harford County and the region with beautiful music while giving opportunities for local musicians to display their talents and concert-goers to hear master performers from the US and around the world. Sustaining such a program for years to come requires substantial financial resources. The orchestra invites you to preserve its rich legacy by providing it with a legacy of your own. Consider including a gift to the SSO as part of your tax and estate planning. Your tax advisor or attorney can assist you in this effort. The information provided does not constitute legal or tax advice.

To learn specifics on how to organize your contributions, please contact the Orchestra Manager at 410-838-6465 or by e-mail.
