Colleen Grotke

bkw_0156rt2_grotkephotoColleen Grotke began playing the violin in 5th grade and continued through College. After graduating from the University of Cincinnati with a BS in Biology and a MS in Community Health Planning and Administration, she followed her husband, Mark Grotke, around the world for the next 29 years as an army wife. Colleen played with community orchestras when available and finally called the SSO home when they retired from active duty in 2008. She served as Board President for three years and currently is in charge of Donor Relations. Colleen currently works for Battelle Memorial Institute in Aberdeen, Maryland as a Project Manager.

“When we moved to Harford County in 1990, one of the first calls I made was to find out if there was a community orchestra. I have made such wonderful friends through the SSO. My favorite memory is when a bunch of us went to string camp – just for grown-ups – and I learned to play the viola!”
