Christine Robbins

Christine Robbins has been playing the Violin since she was a little girl. Violin music fills her heart with joy. She looks for every opportunity to share beautiful music with others and has been sharing that love as part of the SSO since 2002!

Christine is a “Jersey Girl”, having grown up in Glassboro, NJ, where she studied Violin with Dr. Bertram Greenspan at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University). As a Co-ed, she performed with the Colorado Philharmonic, the Drexel University Orchestra, and at the Ambler Summer Music Festival.

Christine and Alan “Bear” Robbins married in 1974. Upon obtaining his Commission in the US NAVY, “Bear” took Christine to Italy, Spain, and to Naval Stations in Alaska and along the Eastern Seaboard. They immersed themselves in the cultures of each location while raising their four children, and Christine sought opportunities to teach Violin and Piano, perform as a Freelance artist, and play in the Bridgeton Symphony Orchestra before transferring to Spain. While in Spain, Christine taught Violin and Piano to US military family members stationed at the US Naval Station Rota. She played with La Orcesta Camera de San Lucar, and also gave two Benefit Recitals. Spain also served as a springboard to Graz, Austria for the American String Teachers’ Association International Music Festival.

Since moving to Maryland, Christine has loved playing with the SSO, and frequently serves as a Strolling Violinist for all sorts of events. She also serves as Pianist, Organist and Choir Director at her church.

Christine and “Bear” reside in Cecil County, where they enjoy bird watching, gardening, pursuing their family histories, and entertaining their Grandchildren. They are owners of a Small Business, named Family Christmas Spirit, making custom photographic Christmas tree ornaments.
